Ghannam Ghannam - Playwriting Workshop
In this workshop, participants will learn how to respect the theatre process through learning all the creative and linguistic techniques required to produce a proper theatrical script. Participants will understand the importance of Playwriting as an art form; for Playwriting is the father of all types of theatrical production.
Born in 1955, Ghannam Ghannam is a Jordanian artist of Palestinian origin. He has many art and literary productions such “Qef Leltafteesh,” and many research papers such as “Alraqaba Wa Alebda’a” and “Alhorreyah Fi Masrah Ghassan Kanafani: Albab Namothajan.” Ghannam also has about 30 theatrical productions. The first of which is "Taghrebat Zareif Altowl" (1984), where last the most recent ones are “Sa Amout Fi Almanfa” (2017) and "Lailak Dhuha" (2018).
He also has many local memberships, such as: the General Union of Arab Writers, Story & Theatrical Composition Department, and participations as a jurist in local and international festivals. In addition, Ghannam established three Jordanian theater groups, where Free Theater group being the latest one.
He has won many awards for authoring and directing—the first of which is the State Encouragement Award for his "AlZeer Salem" (1995) as the best integrated theatrical work, and the latest one being on his masterpiece "Lilak Dhuha". It was translated into Japanese and showcased in Tokyo theaters in 2019. He was honored for “Lailak Dhuha” in Sharjah Theatre Days, the Distinguished Arab Artist Award in 2018. Ghannam is currently heading the training centre and the school theater at the Arab Theater Institute.
